Introduction

This Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral, built in 1229 and completed in 1601 after 372 years, is beautifully located in the old city of Parma, adjacent to the Almudena Palace and the Bishop's Palace, surrounded by tall sandstone walls. This historic building once faced serious restoration problems, and fortunately Antoni Gaudi was invited to participate in the restoration work.
