Introduction

The Swallow Cave, also known as the Viking Cave, is located in the northeastern corner of Ko Phi Phi Leh Island. This was due to the abundance of natural swallow nests found in the area. The cave is 60 meters high and can only be accessed by climbing a bamboo ladder to harvest the nests. Early European pirates came here to explore and left graffiti of the Viking ship on the cliff. Nowadays, the Swallow Cave is only open for external visits, and approaching the cave, especially at night, is extremely dangerous. Local fishermen believe that outsiders may steal their swallow nests, and they may use firearms to resist if they are caught.
