Introduction

The ruins of Devín Castle are located on a small hill overlooking the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers, and used to be a strategic point on the border between Slovakia and Austria. During the Cold War, it was one of the frontiers of the so-called "Iron Curtain" in the West.

Transportation
Route 28 and Route 29 can both take you to Devin Castle. The end stop for Route 29 is the castle, while Route 28 goes further beyond. The bus stop is located under the overpass next to the castle. Bus tickets need to be bought at the station, where there are automatic vending machines with English instructions. Select the type of ticket needed and insert coins to pay. One-way tickets are 1.5 euros, and round-trip tickets are 2.9 euros. Remember to validate the ticket with the time of boarding once on the bus.
