Introduction

The Cat's Nose is located at the southeastern tip of the Hengchun Peninsula, at the junction of the Bashi Strait on the left and the Taiwan Strait on the right, with a total length of 5 kilometers and a width of 3.5 kilometers. It is a protruding coral reef coastline and is known as the skirt reef coast due to its unique folding shape formed by erosion. Along with the Eluanbi, they are the two southernmost points in Taiwan and a great place to view the sea and coral reefs. The Cat's Nose is named after a protruding coral reef rock next to it, which resembles a crouching cat. At dusk, the sunsets over the sea turning the entire surface of the water red, making it a charming sight and one of the "Eight Scenes of Hengchun".
