Introduction
In this church, there is a mosaic map from AD 560, preserved beneath the floor. The map labels 157 Biblical places in ancient Greek, from Lebanon to Egypt, using 2 million mosaic pieces. Only one-third of the map remains today. Visitors can read more about the map and compare it to modern maps in a small room at the entrance. The map is particularly intriguing because it depicts Jerusalem as a large and well-planned city, even with a sense of being the center of the world.
