Introduction

Mingdongwang's sleeping palace is located to the south of the Gudutuo Tower and is also the place where he passed away. Originally, this building was located in the imperial palace, but it was moved to its current location and became a monastery due to the avoidance of the successor. The building is exceptionally exquisite and is believed to have been Mingdongwang's sleeping palace. It consists of three layers, with over a hundred teak pillars supporting the structure above the ground for good ventilation and damp-proofing. The first layer has a wooden corridor surrounding the main hall, while the outer two layers gradually shrink upwards with four eaves. The door posts and pillars of the outer wall of the main hall are exquisitely carved, which makes one dazzled. The inner walls and roofs are painted with golden paint, which is why it is known as the Golden Palace.
