Introduction

Hikone Castle is located in the town of Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is an ancient castle with a long history and is one of the only four remaining wooden castles in Japan, known as "Hikone Castle" due to its unique architectural style. It is also one of Japan's most famous castles alongside Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture, Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture, and Matsumoto Castle in Nagano Prefecture. Hikone Castle is designated as a Japanese national treasure and is a national historic site.
