Introduction

Wang's Garden is one of the best-preserved large-scale salt merchants' residences from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period in Yangzhou. Its architectural layout reflects the Confucian concept of taking the middle path, with balanced proportions, ample ventilation and lighting, interconnecting longitudinal and latitudinal spaces, and flexible separation between interior and exterior. This layout is also one of the traditional patterns of Yangzhou's large gated mansions. The garden's landscape is exquisite and unique, especially the Qitou, which is like a garden within the garden, while the kitchen and bathroom are ingeniously located in the courtyard. Walking in the garden, one can see exquisite stone, wood, and brick carvings that reflect a fusion of Chinese and Western styles. Although the garden is not large, every detail reveals the owner's meticulousness and taste.
