Introduction

During the Ming Dynasty in the Wanli period, a government school was established in Yangzhou with the main building named Wenchang Pavilion due to its prominent status. The colorful lanterns on the pavilion would shine brightly on festive nights, becoming a beautiful sight in the busy streets of Yangzhou. Wenchang Pavilion is an octagonal, three-story brick and wood structure similar to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The bottom floor is connected to the streets by four arches, and the second and third floors have ornamental windows. By climbing to the top of the pavilion, one can overlook the surrounding streets. There are many shops and restaurants nearby, and walking 200 meters south from Wenchang Pavilion will lead to Times Square, while a popular food street is located about 250 meters away on Siwangting Road and Huaihai Road.
