Introduction
Guangji Gate is one of the seven ancient city gates of the old Chaozhou city, located on the north dike of the city, and is also one of the iconic buildings of Chaozhou city. Its original name was "Guangji Tower", also known as "Hanjiang Tower", and is commonly known as the "East Gate Tower" by the people. Guangji Gate was built in the third year of the Ming Dynasty Hongwu period (1370), and has undergone many repairs. It was also renovated in the twentieth year of the Republic of China (1931). This palace-style three-story gable roof pavilion has a spacious middle archway, with a width of seven bays and a depth of five bays, standing on a tall and solid platform, surrounded by windows, with a majestic and elegant appearance. Climbing to the top of the tower, one can overlook the Han River flowing north, the long bridge lying in waves, and the distant mountains resembling dark green. In summer and autumn, the fast current of the rising tide and the green sails of the boats, together with the beautiful scenery of the river waves hitting the pier and the splashing waves hitting the shore, form a picturesque and poetic scene.
