Introduction

The most magnificent and unique cathedral in the Guangzhou Diocese is one of the most well-preserved double pointed Gothic-style buildings in China and one of the largest stone-structured Catholic buildings in Southeast Asia. Designed by a French architect and constructed by Chinese craftsmen, it is one of four fully stone-structured Gothic-style churches in the world, comparable to the famous Notre-Dame de Paris. Inside, there are ten giant stone columns arranged in an ascending staircase design, giving the entire cathedral a majestic atmosphere from top to bottom. The front door of the cathedral and the surrounding walls are decorated with colorful stained-glass windows depicting biblical stories, creating a solemn religious atmosphere.
