Introduction

Mudu Ancient Town is renowned as the "No. 1 Town in Wu Region". Its small bridges, flowing water, deep ancient houses and tall trees imbue it with unique charm, making it a gorgeous scenic area among many ancient towns. The Mu Guang River and other waterways crisscross the town, weaving a picturesque view along with the continuous rocky shore. Also, the old streets with mansions and courtyards add a touch of historical richness. The theatre inside the Hongyin Mountain House once hosted Emperor Qianlong to enjoy performances many times, while the mansions have preserved twenty imperial edicts, shining with the light of history. The cuisine in Mudu is also distinctive, especially the signature dish of Shijia Restaurant, the fish lung soup, made with boiled chicken soup with fish liver. The fish liver is tender and the soup is richly fragrant, truly tempting. In addition, Mudu's local handicrafts are also renowned, including silk products, double-sided embroidery, mahogany carvings, ink stones, calligraphy and painting, stone carvings and more, which visitors can buy as lasting souvenirs.
