Two Birds Brewery
This craft brewery, founded by two Australian women, Danielle and Jayne, is converted from an old factory. The industrial-style interior combined with fresh graffiti makes it a great spot for photos during the day and offers a unique charm at night. Their self-created brand, Two Birds, blends professional brewing techniques with a revolution in taste.
Mountain Goat Brewery, hailed by locals as a street photography haven, boasts a 20-year history and is one of the earliest bars to start brewing its own craft beer. It has produced many popular beers, including the Hightail Ale, inspired by English Amber Ale, and Australia's first organic beer, the crisp Steam Ale. There are also limited edition brands released each season.
Moon Dog Brewery
From the minimalist decor to the mini Van parked at the entrance, the bar has a strong personal style and loves to push the limits. Moon Dog's own craft beers are also known for their wild character. Highly recommended is the Cold War Drip - it surprisingly tastes like coffee and cigarettes, offering a very unique taste adventure!
The Crafty (James) Squire
This is the only craft beer bar in Melbourne's city center that still operates a brewery. It also offers freshly brewed beer on site. In addition, there is a full range of 'Squire' series beers to choose from. What's more, the food here is also cooked with freshly brewed beer as an ingredient. If you have the chance, you must try it. Recommended dishes include: Golden Ale butter chicken, beer-marinated pork schnitzel, and Pilsner beef stroganoff pie. Don't miss out!
Foresters Hall
This craft beer bar holds its own on the highly competitive Smith St bar strip with its retro and elegant art deco interior style. It boasts the most comprehensive collection of craft beers and offers more than 50 types of draft beers from all over Australia. It's a holy place for experiencing beers from other cities.
Stomping Ground Brewery
The light and fresh atmosphere combined with a variety of self-brewed beers has established its position in Melbourne's craft beer scene. There are also free brewery tours every Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon.
