Must-visit attractions in Warsaw for free

Warsaw has a wealth of free attractions, ranging from various museums to the banks of the Vistula River, offering plenty of free places to visit.

Royal Route

The 11-kilometer-long Royal Route in Poland connects the Old Town of Warsaw with the Baroque-style Wilanów Palace in the south. Along Nowy Świat Street and the Royal Route, there are various fashionable shops, cafes, monuments of Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus and Romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz, as well as the Presidential Palace.

Łazienki Park (Royal Baths Park)

Łazienki Park, located beside the Royal Route, is one of the most beautiful parks in Europe. There is an entrance fee for the palace on the island, but other areas are free. You can stroll through the gardens or walk along the pond. The park is home to various animals, including ducks, peacocks, and squirrels. From May to September, free Chopin piano concerts are held every Sunday near the Chopin Monument. In 2014, open-air concerts will resume at the ancient amphitheater.
The multimedia Warsaw Uprising Museum has been open since 2004, presenting visitors with films, photos, and scenes from the 1994 resistance against the German Nazi invasion. The museum displays a replica of a Royal Air Force bomber that was shot down by the Germans after dropping supplies to the fighters. 200,000 fighters and residents were killed in the war, and the entire city was razed to the ground. The resistance began after the 1943 uprising, initiated by a small number of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto. The museum is open for free on Sundays starting from September 1st and on Mondays in August.

Multimedia Fountain Park

Located near the Old Town on Rybaki Street, the new fountain can spray water 360 degrees and is a popular event venue. From May to September, there are laser fountain shows every Friday and Saturday evening. During warmer weather, it is a favorite playground for children. About 2 kilometers away on the banks of the Vistula River is the University of Warsaw, where the university library's rooftop has a park and a garden offering beautiful views of the Vistula River.

Vistula River Beach

Warsaw has natural riverbanks and three beaches, which is rare in some major European cities. They are all located near the zoo on the right bank of the Vistula River; you can reach them by taking a free ferry from the Poniatowski Bridge. The attractions near the beach are connected by a forest path, which is often used for cycling, jogging, and walking.
