Oia
Oia is the most famous sunset viewing spot in Santorini. The white buildings and windmills on the cliff, combined with the sunset, present a stunning scene. However, it is also the most crowded place. As evening approaches, the sunset viewing platform is always packed with people. To find a good spot for photographing the sunset, you need to arrive as early as 3 or 4 PM, which often affects the sunset photography experience. But if you can find a good spot to view this magnificent scene, the sunset in Oia is absolutely breathtaking.
Fira
Fira, located in the center of Santorini, is the largest town and transportation hub on the island. Watching the sunset from the cliffs of Fira offers a unique romantic experience. Compared to Oia, the sunset views in Fira attract relatively fewer crowds, and there are many cliffside restaurants where tourists can take photos. Securing a spot here to capture the spectacular sunset is relatively easier.
Akrotiri Lighthouse
If you are looking for a relatively less-known but equally beautiful sunset viewing spot, then you must not miss the Akrotiri Lighthouse at the southwestern tip of Santorini. Here, you can witness a sunset as magnificent as those in Oia and Fira, but with fewer tourists and an unobstructed view. When the sun sets into the Aegean Sea, you will be deeply moved by this wonderful scene.
Skaros Rock
Skaros Cape is located near the village of Imerovigli. Following a clearly marked path, you can discover a precious site, which has now become a lookout point. Skaros offers a very exciting viewing experience with the charm of the village's sunset. If you want to enjoy the island's beauty with less crowd congestion, Imerovigli is definitely a place not to be missed.
