Taste of New York - A Collection of New York Cuisine

As a bona fide foodie, figuring out what and where to eat is undoubtedly a major highlight of every trip. New York, being a diverse international metropolis, boasts a multitude of flavors and a variety of restaurants from around the world, making it a paradise for food lovers. In just eight days, it was impossible to try everything, so here's a list of the places I selected for your reference! The restaurant choices this time were quite diverse, ranging from fine dining to homestyle, classic American to European cuisines, and more. Since I wanted to avoid Chinese food during this trip, I didn't visit any Chinese restaurants, although Flushing is probably a must-visit for Chinese cuisine.

Friday's Restaurant

Friday's is a famous American chain restaurant, officially named T.G.I.Friday's (Thank Goodness, It's Friday's), meaning 'Thank goodness it's Friday'. It serves traditional American home-style dishes and is very popular, with over 400 branches in dozens of countries. The restaurant's signature is its red and white awning. The dining environment is casual and relaxed, making it a great place for singles and family gatherings.

Applebee's Grill + Bar

Applebee's is a famous American restaurant with multiple chain locations in New York. This particular one is located in Times Square, New York, boasting a prime location. It serves traditional American comfort food such as onion rings, burgers, salads, and steaks. The prices are affordable, portions are generous, and the service is fast. There are also a variety of set meals to choose from, including special kids' meals that are perfect for children.

Ladurée New York Madison

This is almost a must-visit tourist attraction, a boutique pastry shop, and it is said that their macarons are the best in the United States. Specializing in macarons, there are many flavors to choose from, with bright and beautiful colors, crispy shells, and soft fillings. Credit cards are accepted, but reservations are not.

Hershey's Chocolate World (Times Square)

Most of the time, Hershey's chocolates are sold in supermarkets, but this Times Square Hershey's store is filled with chocolates throughout the entire shop, and there are also many limited edition chocolates for sale.

Le Cirque

A famous French circus-themed restaurant. The environment is clean and elegant, though slightly crowded. The dishes are exquisite and moderately portioned, with fine wines available. Some reviewers have noted that the flavors may not align well with Chinese tastes. There is a dress code, credit cards are accepted, and reservations are available.
A pastry bakery that became famous because of the TV show 'Sex and the City'. There are five branches in Manhattan alone. Each branch has its own unique features and specialties. You can try their signature desserts at each location.

Sardi

Sardi's Restaurant is located in the theater district of downtown New York City, USA, and serves traditional American cuisine. The restaurant's walls are adorned with portraits, including those of some iconic celebrities. Sardi's Restaurant accepts reservations and creates a sense of privacy, making it suitable for business and private gatherings. In addition to delicious food, Sardi's Restaurant also sells souvenirs such as T-shirts and mugs.

Serendipity 3

This restaurant is located in the Upper East Side, specializing in American cuisine and desserts, and is very popular. It is also a filming location for the movie 'Serendipity'. The restaurant has mixed reviews, but regardless, it remains extremely popular, and without a reservation, you might have to wait a long time. Be sure to try the desserts here. Credit cards are accepted, and reservations are welcome.

Gabriela’s Restaurant

Gabriela’s Restaurant is located in the Upper West Side of New York, USA. Established in 1992, it serves authentic Mexican cuisine. The founder, Gabriela, brought her family's traditional recipes from Mexico, which are still used today. Both the dishes and the restaurant's decor provide customers with a rich Mexican atmosphere. It offers brunch, lunch, and dinner, and delivery is available within the Upper West Side area. Outdoor dining is also available.

Junior's Restaurant & Bakery

This is an American chain dessert shop. It offers a variety of meals and brunch, but it is most famous for its cheesecakes. The cheesecakes here come in many varieties and flavors, making it a must-try food. However, according to locals, the most authentic experience is at the original store in Brooklyn, as other locations have started to cater more to tourists.

Tasti D. Lite Ice Cream Shop

Tasti D. Lite is an ice cream shop located in New York, USA, with multiple branches throughout the city.

Popover Cafe

Popover Cafe is an affordable café located in Manhattan, New York, USA. It serves American-style light meals and coffee. Recommended items include popovers, pancakes, and unique scrambled eggs with salmon, cheese, and chives. It is suitable for family gatherings, where you can taste local delicacies. Takeout service is available, and it serves three meals a day on weekdays, as well as brunch on weekends and holidays. The quality of the brunch here has received widespread acclaim.
