Sunset at the Fisherman's Wharf for backlit shots, South Gate Bay for filming location of "Left Ear," and Su Feng Mountain for panoramic views of the whole island. Many delicious foods can be found around Wan Xiang Road, Tongting Street, and Su Feng Road. The island is located at the border of Fujian and Guangdong, so both Chaoshan cuisine and Minnan cuisine are authentic. There are also plenty of sweet fruits. For self-driving, you can stay at Jin Luan Bay instead of Tongling Town. In terms of transportation, you can take a bus directly from Xiamen Airport to Dongshan Island at Fanghu Bus Terminal, or take a high-speed train to Zhangzhou East Station and then take Route 8 bus to Dongshan Island.
Volcano Island Tourism and Leisure Resort
The island is full of unique geological landscapes, great for sightseeing and photography. You can also take a battery-powered car to travel around the island, costing 20 yuan per person for a complete circle, or 10 yuan per person for midway boarding. It's easy to catch a car by waving your hand. The Geological Museum in the Valley of Monuments and Rainbow Mountain are great spots for taking photos. It is recommended to stay at a sea chart guesthouse on the volcanic island, with its pure white standalone building resembling "Little Santorini". Don't forget to wear a straw hat, carry a woven bag, and wear a vacation-style dress to enhance your style. For transportation, you can take bus route 605 from Zhangzhou Port and tell the driver that you want to go to the volcanic island (carpooling is also an option).
Also known as Haitan Island, in April and May, you can see the "blue tears" phenomenon, where the sea emits a fluorescent blue glow at night, very stunning. In the afternoon, you can see athletes practicing kite surfing on the beach of Hongyan Resort, very cool. Don't miss out on watching the sunset at Xiangbi Bay. The island road is well-maintained, and it's a great experience to rent an electric bike and ride around. If you are interested in sandboarding, you can go to "Fenghuang Mountain", as shown on the map. For transportation, take a bullet train from Quanzhou to Fuqing, and then transfer to a bus to Pingtan.
Dajishan Island
Camping on the island offers views of the starry sky and the Milky Way. There are four camping sites on the island: Yanggu Tail, Moon Bay, Ambassador Ao Beach, and Peach Blossom Valley. From Moon Bay to Dongjiao Village, there is a large corner of the island road that must be walked. There are tea gardens on both Dayu and Xiaoyu Lakes, where even the air is sweet. Mazu Village on the island has the most accommodation options, and the best place to watch the sunrise is Zaoyao Village, where there are only about 10 guesthouses, so it's quite tight. Dayu Mountain Island is quite large, so it is best to plan a two-day, one-night leisurely exploration. As for transportation, take the high-speed train to Fuding Station first, then take a bus to Yuqing Port, and take a passenger ship at the port to Dayu Mountain Island, which takes about 30 minutes.
