Wang Ji Beef Offal Restaurant | Super Beef Offal Noodles | Homemade Red Bean Paste
Introduction: The first delicacy I had in Wuhan was the Super Beef Offal Noodles at Wang Ji Beef Offal Restaurant. The portion of beef offal was generous, including beef tendon and tripe, all cooked to a perfect tenderness and well-seasoned, making it very flavorful and chewy. The noodles were also very firm and smooth. The price of around ten yuan was reasonable, though it was a bit spicy.
Qishui Bao
Qishui Bao has a history of several decades and is considered a specialty snack of Wuhan. I specifically asked the owner why it is called Qishui Bao, wondering if it contains soda, but the owner said it's just a conventional name without any particular reason. The most classic flavor: mushroom and glutinous rice filling. The glutinous rice is soft and sticky, and the two layers of skin are golden and crispy.
Xiao Lu Yi Sheng Jian Guan
Their Sheng Jian (pan-fried buns) are made and sold fresh. The shop is small, and you can see the entire production process while waiting in line. The taste proves to be quite good, with tender and plentiful meat. The bottom crust is golden and crispy, and the buns are quite large, filled with hot, steaming broth. Be careful not to eat it all in one bite. Although called Sheng Jian, they are actually more like Sheng Jian soup buns. Each type has only one flavor.
Lao Hei Stone Cake
Lao Hei Stone Cake involves placing a thin cake on a scorching hot stone, then covering it with another layer to cook the cake. The stone cake with fresh meat filling is very thin and crispy when cooked, with a hint of Sichuan pepper flavor. It's indeed a unique taste experience. Remember to eat it while it's hot, otherwise it will become soft.
Lao Qian Ji | Stir-fried Beef with Dried Bean Threads
Lao Qian Ji's stir-fried beef with dried bean threads is a very famous snack in Jiangcheng. It is made and sold on the spot. First, beef, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and various seasonings are mixed with starch in a pan, then poured over the bean threads. The combination of beef and bean threads is indeed unique and lives up to its reputation as a famous Jiangcheng delicacy.
