How to eat in Hangzhou in 48 hours

A food guide for short trips, not missing out on any but every one is worth tantalizing your taste buds.

Baomei Dim Sum

A traditional breakfast shop located very close to Hangzhou Railway Station, making it the first stop of this trip. It opens at 6 AM and business is booming! There's a production line queue: first, pay at the entrance and get a ticket, then continue to queue up and pick up your meal at the innermost window. The seating area for dining in is on both sides of the queue, and the environment is quite crowded.

Youbu Soy Milk

A popular spot in Hangzhou, with a long queue that can be quite intimidating. The signature dish is salty soy milk, which is prepared by placing scallion, fried dough sticks, and soy sauce at the bottom of a bowl. The staff then pours boiling hot soy milk from a small pot over it. After waiting for a while, a bowl of salty soy milk is ready.

Jinsha Hall at Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake

Jinsha Hall has always been famous. I am in quite a few food-related WeChat groups, and whenever someone asks for food recommendations in Hangzhou, it is the first place recommended by both seasoned and new food enthusiasts, with no objections.

Juying Noodle Shop

Recommended Pian'er Chuan, Juying uses green snow vegetables, the soup base has a lot of lard, and adding some lard residue makes it indeed very fragrant.

Deming Restaurant

A leading representative of folk Hangzhou cuisine, located in Bagua New Village. The dinner service starts at 5 PM, but you need to secure a spot by 4:30 PM. Before the opening time, the staff lazily rest and watch TV, while the customers who have secured their spots pass the time by browsing their phones in the dimly lit restaurant. As soon as the meal time arrives, the place is instantly filled both inside and outside.

Lanbian Bowl

There are quite a few good shops in Shiwukui Alley, and Lanbian Bowl is one of them. Reservations are not accepted, and you can't enter the shop before the designated time, so just wait at the door. The owner is a very stubborn person, so don't disrupt his rhythm and way of doing things. Just follow his arrangements.

Zi Dong Wo Xi

Zi Dong Wo Xi means 'can't figure it out' in Jiande dialect. The owner mentioned that it was a family comment on his decision to open a coffee shop despite graduating with a design degree, a form of self-mockery. Located in the scenic Hefang Street, it's a great resting spot for tourists like us who get tired from walking around.

COTTON CAKE (Mian Dian Cake)

The cake looks good and tastes great, and the tableware is also well-matched. The purple sweet potato cheesecake has a moist and soft texture, and the purple sweet potato and cheese blend quite well!

JOY Bar (Binjiang Branch)

The Bangkok Prison cocktail has a unique flavor due to a special medicinal liquor added to it. The taste is indeed quite magical. For snacks, the beef jerky is recommended.

September Life

Fresh meat mooncakes, besides Shanghai's Guangming Village, I love eating Hangzhou's September Life. The filling with pickled vegetables is slightly salty but very flavorful, and the small size makes it perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea. There are many branches.
