Nanjing Shixiang Road
The most famous part is, of course, Shixiang Road, which is reputed to be the most beautiful 600 meters in Nanjing during autumn. In autumn, Shixiang Road is adorned with the orange-yellow Chinese tallow trees, purple-red beech trees, golden ginkgo trees, and evergreen junipers. The mix of red, orange, yellow, and green creates a vivid oil painting-like scene. When the autumn wind blows, the road is covered with colorful fallen leaves. The stone statues on both sides of the road lie quietly, allowing the fallen leaves to decorate them in a myriad of colors.
Qianhu
Compared to Shixiang Road, Qianhu is a more niche attraction, and most of the visitors here are likely locals from Nanjing. Qianhu is located on the north side outside Zhongshan Gate in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, west of Mingling Road and south of the Botanical Garden. Unlike the bustling Shixiang Road in the morning, the area around Qianhu is particularly quiet in the morning, with only a few elderly people passing by for their morning exercises and a few photography enthusiasts taking pictures. There are almost no tourists in sight.
Yanque Lake
Yanque Lake is smaller than Qian Lake and is adjacent to Meihuagu Road. It is an exceptionally beautiful place. I can't remember how many years ago it was, but the first time I took a taxi past Meihuagu Road, I was stunned by the scenery here. I was amazed that there was such a quiet place so close to the edge of Nanjing City. To the south of Yanque Lake is Meihuagu Road, and there are patches of reed marshes by the lake. To the north of Yanque Lake is Meihua Mountain. The lakeside is covered with green lawns and metasequoia forests. In late autumn, wildflowers are still as bright as clouds, and the metasequoia trees gradually turn from yellow-green to purple. The reflection of the clear water and blue sky is like an oil painting, with pavilions and waterside pavilions dotting the landscape, making it a place where people linger and forget to leave.
Liuhui Pavilion
Liuhui Pavilion, also known as Shui Pavilion, is an auxiliary building in the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. It is located on the south side of the highway from the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum to Linggu Temple. It was built in 1932 with donations from the Central Military Academy. The plaque of the Shui Pavilion was inscribed by Marshal Xu Xiangqian, a graduate of the first class of the Whampoa Military Academy (the predecessor of the Central Military Academy). The Shui Pavilion is 14 meters long and 10 meters wide. The roof is covered with milky white glazed tiles, with red pillars, surrounded by water on three sides, reflecting in the rippling water, creating a unique charm. The surrounding area is planted with trees, and large patches of water lilies are planted in the water. It is a beautiful scenic spot in the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.
The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is located in the Zhongshan Scenic Area on the southern slope of Purple Mountain in Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It is the tomb of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a great pioneer of China's modern democratic revolution. It is possibly the most famous attraction in the eastern suburbs, and it is always crowded during holidays. However, the sacrificial hall in front of the mausoleum offers a great viewing spot where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the southern slope of Purple Mountain.
Nanjing Music Stage
The music stage is located on the south side of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Square. The stage area is nearly 250 square meters, and behind the stage, there is a large arc-shaped screen wall, which is 11.3 meters high and 16.7 meters wide, with the function of gathering sound. In front of the stage, there is a crescent-shaped lotus pond. In front of the pond, there is a fan-shaped auditorium built along the slope, which can accommodate more than 3,000 spectators. On days without performances, this place is a spot for feeding pigeons with children. Friends with children at home will understand.
Lingyuan Road
Lingyuan Road is located at the southern foot of Purple Mountain in Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It is a garden road leading to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. The road passes through the famous scenic spot in China, the first batch of national scenic spots, and the first batch of national 5A-level tourist attractions - Zhongshan Scenic Area. In summer, the plane trees provide ample shade, making Lingyuan Road and other roads in the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum area 'green tunnels'. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow, presenting a completely different scene from summer.
