Must-visit off-the-beaten-path attractions in Nanjing

Nanjing is a city that contains many small shops, and even locals may not necessarily discover them unless they search carefully! Each shop is definitely worth exploring.

Built in August 1936, the 'National Art Exhibition Hall' is the first national-level art museum in modern China.
The Ming Xiaoling Museum is a specialized exhibition hall about Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang, the World Cultural Heritage Ming Xiaoling, and Ming culture in Nanjing. The exterior of the new museum adopts the architectural style of the Jiangnan region during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with typical elements such as white walls, gray tiles, carved wooden doors, sloped roofs, horse-head walls, and lattice windows. This design harmonizes the overall architecture with the surrounding cultural relics of Ming Xiaoling, such as the Great Golden Gate and the Four-Square City, as well as the lush natural environment. The museum mainly consists of the 'Ming Xiaoling' themed exhibition hall, the 'Guanpu Ming-style Furniture Art Museum', a 360-degree panoramic cinema, a cultural book bar, a cultural product supermarket, temporary exhibition halls, and the Ming Life Hall.

Shangbiao Villa

Shangbiao Villa in Meihuagu was first built during the Southern Qi Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties period. It was an 'imperial retreat' building from the Shang Dynasty. The courtyard is spacious and bright, with many pine and cypress trees, as well as parasol trees, hence also known as 'Tongye Mountain House'. It has now been converted into a teahouse. The owner is a photographer, and the entire design and arrangement of the teahouse are quite tasteful. The teahouse also displays the owner's collection of photography equipment and works.
