Located in the Langkawi Islands of Malaysia, the Sky Bridge has a total length of 125 meters and is arc-shaped. The main structure is made of steel. This large and heavy 'steel frame' is supported by only one pillar, which is 87 meters high and fixed on the mountainside. It is then pulled by 8 steel cables, suspending the entire bridge at an altitude of 687 meters, connecting two mountain peaks. This is the reason it is named the Sky Bridge. To reach the Sky Bridge, you need to take a cable car. The cable car has two stops. The first stop is halfway up the mountain, where you can get off to enjoy the mid-mountain scenery before getting back on to reach the top and head to the Sky Bridge.
At the seaside of Langkawi, there is a large square called Eagle Square. In the square stands the Eagle Tower (Dataran Lang), which is considered the new landmark of Langkawi. In ancient Malay, Langkawi means 'reddish-brown eagle,' and the Eagle Tower is the symbol of Langkawi. The Eagle Tower was built in October 1996, standing 45 meters tall. The reddish-brown eagle stands on a stone tower with its huge wings spread wide, exuding a proud and unyielding posture, as if it is about to soar into the sky at any moment, which is truly awe-inspiring. The fierce and proud stance of the giant eagle symbolizes Langkawi's future economic prosperity, just like an eagle soaring high. Therefore, this square is highly revered and cherished by the locals.
Underwater World Langkawi is located at Pantai Cenang and showcases a variety of freshwater and marine fish as well as marine life. Through a 15-meter-long tunnel, visitors can view over 5,000 species of fish and more than 500 types of marine life. The feeding time for the fish is at 3 PM every afternoon. The Underwater World also features a 4D cinema to enhance the visitors' sensory experience. It houses two types of penguins, the Rockhopper and the Blackfooted, as well as seals.
Langkawi Black Sand Beach is named for its black sand-covered beach. With the changes in sea breeze, waves, and sunlight, the beach presents beautiful black ripples. The International Sailing Championship held here every December or January has become a highlight of this area.
Pregnant Woman Island is located at the southwestern tip of Langkawi and is a small forest-covered island. Within the island, there is a large Malaysian Pregnant Woman Island and a beautiful lake called 'Pregnant Woman Lake.' There is a long-standing legend about this island that married couples without children who drink the lake water will conceive and have a child. The small hill behind the lake looks like the body of a pregnant woman lying on the ground. It is very peaceful here, with clear and cold lake water, making it suitable for visitors who enjoy winter swimming.
Shimi Island, also known as White Sand Island, gets its latter name from its white sand, and the former from the historical practice of rice-carrying ships seeking shelter from storms, causing the rice to get wet. Shimi Island features fine white sandy beaches and clear waters, making it an ideal spot for sea bathing. The island is well-equipped with basic facilities and offers a variety of water activities, including banana boating, parasailing, and water skiing.
