Beginner's Guide to Visiting Silicon Valley

Visiting the Bay Area in Northern California, apart from the must-see San Francisco downtown and nearby attractions, the Peninsula and South Bay, located in the Bay Area, are also regions that many people include in their travel itineraries. The Peninsula is home to the famous Stanford University, known for its spacious and comfortable environment as well as iconic architecture, attracting many visitors on a pilgrimage. Additionally, the South Bay, Silicon Valley, is also home to numerous technology companies, including Google, Apple, and other giant tech campuses, making it a popular tourist destination.

Hoover Tower

Hoover Tower is the iconic building of the Hoover Institution. It has an observation deck that visitors enjoy going up to for a panoramic view of Stanford University and the entire Palo Alto area.

The Memorial Church Stanford Memorial Church

Memorial Church was completed in 1903 and is a landmark of Stanford University. The exterior is Romanesque architecture, while the murals and other details are designed in Byzantine art style. The stained glass and the four large pipe organs inside the church make it even more magnificent.

Rodin Sculpture Garden

It is said to be the largest Rodin bronze sculpture garden outside of Paris, and it is open to visitors free of charge all year round. Visitors are often captivated by the sights within the garden, especially at night when the lighting effects make it even more beautiful.

Cantor Arts Center

The Stanford campus boasts multiple art buildings and attractions, among which the Cantor Center of Visual Arts features 24 galleries, a sculpture garden, and various exhibitions. It includes special exhibitions introducing the Stanford Family's paintings and history. Different exhibitions are held throughout the year, and it is free for visitors.

Stanford Dish Hiking Trail

For those who enjoy hiking, it is recommended to visit the Stanford Dish Hiking Trail near the campus. This trail is located between Stanford and I-280 Hwy, with a total length of approximately 3.7 miles, offering beautiful scenery along the way.

Arizona Cactus Garden

For those who love gardening, why not visit the Cactus Garden on campus? This garden is located between Campus Drive and Arboretum Road.

Stanford Shopping Center

Since you are already at Stanford University, you must mention the nearby Stanford Shopping Center. This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful shopping center in the Bay Area, with well-planned outdoor shopping areas. Various flowers are planted outdoors, including wisteria, cherry blossoms, tulips, morning glories, etc. Every corner has thoughtful sofa and umbrella areas and charging stations for guests to rest!
