M+S tires are standard equipment for Hertz rentals. However, I have repeatedly seen roadside signs in BC province that read: "Winter tires must be used from October 1 to April 30." At the same time, I have indeed not seen any law enforcement officers checking vehicle tires, and I have not heard of anyone being fined for not replacing winter tires, including myself.
