If you have spare change, bring it and spend it if you get the chance. If you don't, you don't need to exchange it. You can basically use your card to pay at places where you can travel. Besides, in places like Iceland and Norway where it's hard to see people, where would you use banknotes? It's basically self-service ?

There are only a few places in Iceland where you need to pay 100 krona to use the toilet. The rest can be paid by card.
