Generally don't need to wash the car, but there are stipulations in the car rental agreement that if the car is particularly dirty or stained, there will be a special cleaning fee deducted from the credit card. I will remove and clean the floor mats before returning the car, and rinse off the mud on the body with water, don't shake too much.
