Next month, I will be driving from Vancouver to Banff National Park for a road trip. I'm debating whether to rent a Toyota SUV (RAV4, compact) or a mid-sized sedan. I feel that the sedan is more comfortable and cheaper, but I'm concerned about the road conditions. Can anyone who has been there give me some advice? Thank you ?

We were as hesitant as you when it came to choosing a car. After ordering a compact SUV from Jeep, we cancelled the order and changed it to a sedan. I don't know much about cars, but I read online reviews that suggest that when renting a SUV, it's best to choose a four-wheel drive model. If it snows, it won't be as fragile as a sedan, so it's a matter of trade-offs. If you don't mind the price difference, you can rent a four-wheel drive model. If you're looking for value for money, a sedan should be fine for the time you're going.

SUVs are better, more comfortable, with four-wheel drive. They are better for running up mountains and on sandy roads. I don't recommend driving on mountain roads when traveling. There is absolutely no need to do so.

I rent a midsize/sedan car.
