Will I be contacted by staff when picking up the car at Melbourne Airport, or do I just collect it from a certain location ?

You should contact them proactively. I just rented from this company, and I took a car directly from Melbourne CBD to the rental office, and returned the car directly to the rental office. Then they took us to the airport terminal.
