These countries do not require cross-border fees: France, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Not all car rental companies or car models charge vehicle border fees! It's not the countries mentioned by the friend on the upper floor that don't charge, but it's related to the insurance of the rented vehicle. Some cover the entire EU, while others only cover their own country!

Look at the car rental company. When I rented a car at Frankfurt Airport, Denmark and the Netherlands each charged me 10 euros, and Poland charged me 50 euros.
