The Matterhorn can also be climbed from the Grindelwald side. In fact, the Matterhorn itself is not the main focus, but rather the trek from Zermatt. The weather on the Matterhorn can be quite unpredictable, so it's best to just do some snow trekking and see the Aletsch Glacier.
