I picked up the car at Zurich airport, drove all the way to Lucerne, Berne, and Geneva, and then went to Milan. I found that I had to pass through France along the way, but when I booked the car, I only specified that I was going to Italy. Is it okay to add France at the pick-up location without mentioning it at the time of booking ?

I marked France and Germany. In fact, I may not go to these two countries. Suggest consulting zuzuche to modify the order to see if it's possible.

Did not tell to pick up the car in France, there were problems in France, the garage would not compensate, so be careful when driving in France.

You can modify the order to include France, and mention it when picking up the car. There won't be any additional fees, but if you don't mention it, it may cause all insurance to be invalid.
