I rented too late, only Mazda3 is left. If you only operate in the North Island, most of which are highways, do you also need to buy glass insurance ?

Better to buy comprehensive insurance. My windshield on the Beidao was hit by a small stone. Fortunately, I bought comprehensive insurance.

Insurance is all about chance and luck. Outsiders are divided into two camps, only oneself can make a decision. If lucky, a lot of insurance money is wasted, which is a loss. If unlucky, a small amount of glass is broken and it feels like a small loss avoids a big expense, which is a gain. So buying insurance mainly depends on one's psychology. However, it seems that the probability of glass being hit by small stones in New Zealand is not low, and it feels like 3-5% should be about right.
