5 years ago at the self-service gas station at the French airport, magnetic stripe cards were not supported. Now chip cards should be more popular, it is still better to bring chip cards. There are many ticket machines that do not support magnetic stripe cards.

Remember to bring a chip card, the most common one used in Europe is the microchip card, which basically works everywhere. The magnetic strip doesn't work.
