Park on the roadside and check if there is a coin-operated machine. If there is, choose how many hours to park, insert the coins, print the ticket, and place it on the front windshield. Foreigners will check if there is anything printed on the windshield. If not, they may leave a parking violation notice. However, not all areas require parking fees, and the police may not always check. In urban areas, roadside parking generally requires a fee, but it is usually free on Saturdays and Sundays ?

Printed parking voucher in the machine, put it in front of the car window, no problem. But I was still fined when parking on the streets of Salzburg. The locals said it was a temporary stop. Be careful.
Thank you.
