The parking charging here is quite different from that in our country. It's all self-service payment. I'm wondering what the consequences would be if I didn't pay in some remote places where there are no policemen? The parking here is also not cheap ?

If you haven't paid and get caught, I guess a ticket will be issued. You can just wait and see.
Not paying almost certainly leads to a fine, which is around 50 euros.
It is possible to evade tickets in remote areas. However, I have seen the police check parking tickets in the city center of Lindau, Germany. They check very carefully and examine every car.
It looks like no one is checking, but in fact someone is checking. Don't be greedy for small benefits.
