Can you guys please tell me whether you change your pocket money into US dollars before you leave for the US, or whether you try to change it when you arrive in the US? Thanks ?

When you pay at a restaurant, they will give you a consumption confirmation slip with a suggested tip percentage. You can just select the lowest percentage and pay it with your credit card. Generally, fast food restaurants at train stations and outlets do not require tips.
You can just exchange it in the US, as you can't get very small change in China. And you can also use your credit card to pay for tips.
Change pocket money into local currency.
Go to the restaurant to eat or buy something at the gas station, and he can give you change.
Thinking about tipping before even going, buying snacks a few times, and ending up with a pile of loose change.
Just swipe the card.
