Does one have to present official documents when renting a car in Kuala Lumpur? PS: I only have my driver's license now ?

In Malaysia, hawk car rental does not require a driver's license or official documents, but it is uncertain for other companies. And I heard that if the police check the car, they do not recognize only translated documents, so it is better to have an official document just in case.
About driver's license notarization, I personally think it's best to get one. In fact, rental car companies just make a copy of the driver's license for their records, so I think a translated document should also suffice. Although I haven't encountered a situation where it's necessary to provide one, I feel that a notarized document is more reliable, just in case.
You need to prepare your driver's license, photocopies, translations, and notarized documents just in case.
I directly used my Hong Kong driver's license and the person at the car rental said it was no problem... and I was able to rent the car like that.
