P signs indicate parking spots. Parking at a spot with only the letter 'P' is free of charge. However, if the 'P' sign is accompanied by a meter, a parking ticket must be purchased. If the sign indicates a specific time frame, such as 8-20 or 6-24, parking is only charged during that time period and free outside of it. Police officers conduct random checks to ensure that parking tickets have been purchased and that the correct parking time has been recorded, including the date and time. The parking ticket must be displayed on the right front of the vehicle. Parking can be expensive, so I usually find a free parking spot at night and move to a paid parking area in the morning.
