Most hotels have parking lots, which are free to park. Look for parking spaces outside, and there are parking cards. 7-11 gas stations sell them, and I bought too many this time. There are two new ones left. Good hotels all have free parking. I stayed at the Penang La Ya Hotel by the sea.

There are basically no parking lots in George Town's old town. There are private parking lots, which are like regular parking lots, and public parking spaces in yellow boxes on the side of the road, where you can park by purchasing a parking ticket.
