I have always used magnetic stripe credit cards for tolls and have had no problems; however, gas stations do not recognize them.

Places where you can pay by yourself (such as expressways and gas stations) can only use chip cards. At places where someone else charges, magnetic stripe cards can be used.

It's best to use chips, they're very convenient. But I used cash throughout my entire Road trip.

If you're picking up the car, you don't need one. A dual-currency card from home will do. For expressways, I've experienced that any tolls that can be paid by card require a chip, so I specifically got a chip card for that.

Apply for a foreign currency single standard chip credit card directly and immediately in the CMB Mobile Banking app. There is no annual fee for VISA, MasterCard, JCB, or Amex. It will be delivered to your home soon. I applied on Saturday afternoon, and it showed that it was shipped out this afternoon. You can also apply for a backup card. I also have a magnetic stripe card, and I asked the customer service about this issue. They gave me the suggestion. The card was applied for on Saturday 9.21 afternoon, and it showed that it was shipped out this afternoon on September 23. You can refer to the time.

Self-service payments generally require international chip cards.
