In August 17th, I went to the South Island, where it was sunny every day, the road was not icy, nor was it snowing. Maybe it was lucky, but the road wouldn't be icy in November.

Most road sections will not have it, unless in some high-altitude areas, but slippery road surfaces still need to be careful, because except for the main urban area, the highways in other places are like national and provincial highways in China, and the mountain roads are steep and sharp.
