Where is the best place to buy insurance when renting a car? Does anyone have any experience with filing a claim? Are there any inconvenient issues when domestic insurance companies handle claims ?

Renting a car abroad is slightly cheaper and the claims process is handled directly by the rental company, which is simpler. If you purchase insurance domestically, in the event of an accident, the rental company will still deduct the pre-authorization from your credit card. After you pay the full amount, you will then have to go to a domestic insurance company to file a claim for reimbursement, which is much more troublesome.
