I'm not very clear about how to self-service refuel and self-park in New Zealand at the moment. Does anyone know how to operate it ?

The steps for paying and parking are usually written clearly. Just follow the steps. Generally, you first enter your car number, then select the time, and finally pay.
There are two types of gas stations in Canada: The first type is like this: you need to swipe your card first, input the gas pump number and fuel grade, it will deduct a pre-authorization of $150. Then input your estimated fuel price (we usually fill up around 35-40L, so I input around $65-$70), then use the gas pump to fill up, when the amount reaches the designated amount, it will automatically pop up, then print the receipt, the pre-authorization will be released within 1-2 weeks (the refunded amount is $150 - the amount of fuel you have purchased). The place to swipe your card is usually in the middle of two gas pumps. The second type is like this: you just need to fill up, then go to the convenience store next to the gas station and tell the cashier the gas pump number, they will tell you how much you have spent on fuel. The first type is more common. I am not sure about the self-service parking, because we usually park at our accommodation or at the parking lot of the scenic spot, so we have never paid for parking.
