Is it a problem to drive 30 km in the evening on the South Island ?

It's better not to compare tired personnel and some places without street lights rely on reflective columns.

I think if you are used to driving in China, driving at night is also fine, but you need to concentrate. There are many wild rabbits running out at night, sometimes they will be killed, there is nothing you can do. It is very dangerous to change direction when the road is too dark. I drove from Christchurch to Wanaka for more than 5 hours at night, and the starry sky was super beautiful.

There are no street lights on the highway when driving out of the city at night on the South Island, and I find it particularly scary, especially when passing through areas with forests nearby.

I drove more than 100 kilometers on Beidao Island at night, which was really scary. The road was narrow, the speed was fast, and there were no streetlights.

Drive slowly at night when there are fewer cars and drive in the center of the road (except when there is a center solid line)

Try to avoid, no streetlights, many bends, and no guardrails. I just drove 200km from Mount Cook to Wanaka, and I'm already paralyzed. I absolutely won't drive after 6 o'clock for the next few days.
