No, I rented Europcar twice and felt very good both times. The first time was in Iceland, and they said I didn't have to pay a penny (I don't know why). They didn't deduct any money from me when I returned the car, nor did they inspect it. The second time was in the island of La Réunion. There was a pre-authorization, and they didn't inspect the car when I returned it. Later, when I checked my credit card statement, I found that the pre-authorization had not been charged.
