For the first time driving, is the road difficult to drive on that side? As a beginner, which roads are best to avoid? Thank you for your response ?

South of Christchurch are coastal or mountain roads, mostly open two-lane dual carriageways with a speed limit of 100km/h. There are few road signs, so it is recommended to use GPS navigation. Be aware that many plainclothes police cars will monitor and enforce speed limits in the South Island.

Two-way two-lane, equivalent to county roads in China. I don't know what level of 'newbie' you are referring to. If you are proficient in driving in China and usually have the habit of following traffic rules, then there should be no problem. It takes about half an hour to get used to driving on the right side.
