Nowadays, is there any problem with using domestic credit cards for self-service fueling in the United States ?

It doesn't seem to work.
Best in cash, cheap
Gas stations don't take credit cards, need to input zipcode, some counters do, many cash only or debit only. The key is that in many places credit cards are much more expensive than cash, with some as much as 70% more expensive in Orlando.
