If you are coming to Banff on October 14-16, I suggest you go to the tourism website first to see if there are any places that are closed. It's forecasted to snow these days. We are in Banff now and plan to leave on October 4. It's snowing heavily outside.

Banff is huge, from the entrance to the Icefields Parkway is over 200 kilometers. If you go straight through to Jasper, it's almost 400 kilometers. Except for Lake Louise, the other lakes take quite a bit of time. If you only have one day, you can aim for Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and a few small lakes along the way (you don't have to walk). Mosquito Creek, take a spin on the Icefields Parkway and then come back. But this route needs to enter the park at 6 am, and then run all the way. It will probably be dark by the time you finish the Icefields Parkway. Banff and Jasper are very large, and I only walked around for about a week.
