May I ask everyone, for a family of 2 adults and 2 children, how much cash is suitable to bring for a 16-day trip in the US West ?

I spent about 3000 RMB on gas during my 12-day 4000+ km trip in the beautiful West.
We drove 4500km from Las Vegas to Yellowstone National Park and back to Las Vegas to return the car. Hyundai gave us a tank of gas, and we spent more than 190 US dollars on gas!
Depends on what kind of car you borrow and how many miles you drive. A large SUV can have double the gas consumption of a sedan. I drove a Malibu sedan for a week, covering an average of 130 miles per day, and only needed to fill up the gas tank for less than $40. However, if I were to switch to a large SUV, it would cost me over $100. It's always better to be safe than sorry, so it's advisable to carry some cash with you, even if you plan to use your credit card at small shops.
I have driven my Mitsubishi Outlander for 7700 kilometers and spent 500 dollars on fuel.
A credit card is enough. 1000 is enough.
