Most of the time, meals need to be charged by chip cards! Sixt car rental can be magnetic stripe cards.

When picking up the car, I have never had any issues with using a magnetic stripe card. For semi-self-service refueling, a magnetic stripe card works as well, but for full self-service refueling, I have to use a chip card. Some countries also require a chip card for tolls on their highways.
